Indeed there are many keyword tools available in the market. Both paid and unpaid that can help you in getting your keywords research done. Now, the problem in that is that the unpaid free versions (most of them) will have an issue one way or the other. Obviously if it was so accurate and perfect there wouldn’t have been any paid tools. Similarly, if you talk about the paid version then if you can afford them you have nothing to worry. However, we cannot forget a fact that not everyone can go for that option. So, does that mean that there is no other way to find out your business keywords? Well, the answer is a straight “no”. The below article is going to explain just that to you, how to research your keywords the easy, accurate and free way.

Keyword Research is the base of your entire online business. You don’t want to promote your business of “garments” with the keywords that are used for “sports goods”.  Or keep promoting your business all over the internet with all the possible keywords without any focused strategy or business oriented campaigns.

Finding the right keywords:

The tool explained for this activity is the Google’s very own keyword planner. Now the next question that rises has to be that it is very old school and not completely accurate, no seo agency or individual uses it now that much and list goes on. But again because for this article we considered all types of individuals from all sorts of background, so this had to be the easiest to understand, perform and updated platform we could select to discuss.

Whether you or your company has an Adwords account or no, this tool can still be used. You have to go to the search and type in the query that you feel is relevant to your business. There will be a bulk list of many keyword phrases with the average monthly searches value (again another reason of picking this tool).

To utilize Google keyword planner, click “Find new keywords” and input upto 10 keywords at one time. You might input a URL, and it is a fantastic means to get data out of competitor’s websites. Click “get started,” and you will get the related information.

Click “Show widely related data” and change it to “closely related”.  Broad is very large – for instance wall art, is going to show results like paint and wallpaper. Choosing “closely related” should filter all those less-relevant keywords.

Click “download keyword ideas”, beside the date range, to obtain a CSV record out of all the information for all keywords.

Seed keywords:

Seeds would be single-word stems of keywords. For E-commerce industry these seeds, represent their features and the services and products that they sell.

For Example, if you sell wall art, key words might be significant categories like “metal wall art” and “canvas wall art”. Seeds might incorporate the genre, color (blue, red, green), and also other features. Be careful to think about attributes and categories that are similar. For instance, some consumers can refer to refer to wall art for being a painting.

There are many ways you can work on it some examples include adding color names to the wall art or the attributes like metal, wood etc to it. This process can create tens of thousands of keyword phrases. However, you might want to stick to the most relevant keywords for your business and the ones with most searches.

Cleanup Keyword Data

Once you have your data ready start with assembling a spreadsheet. Column A lists key phrases and keywords that are directly linked with your business products/services. While Column B lists the average numbers of searches to those phrases.

You need to either manually go over all the data which is not only going to take you a lot time. But chances are that human error comes into act (making you miss any important keyword as you are going over thousands of data together).

So, a recommended way is to clear all the duplicates initially and then find certain phrases that are not relevant to your business products/services. Yes, even though you selected the close category but there are minute chances that maybe some words are still there. So, to play safe we will do this.

Now you have a list of many keywords that you can use as part of your strategy and make the most out of it.

There are various other methods to perform this activity with in-dept and accurate analysis. Along with the way we can use from instance the LSI Keywords along with Long-Tail Keywords and the list is ongoing.
